He’s back. Almost.
New York Mets third-baseman David Wright has been partaking in baseball activities, much to the delight of fans everywhere. He’s been spotted fielding his position and taking batting practice.
Now, the next step of the process will take place on Monday.
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Wright will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Port St. Lucie on Monday. He’ll be used as the designated hitter.
Wright feels he’s done everything he can short of getting into live-game action.
“There’s not much more preparation I can do other than games,” Wright said while visiting the Mets last week in Miami.
With the Mets now tearing the cover off the ball suddenly, if Wright can get back into the lineup he’d provide a pretty solid cog in the middle of that lineup with Yoenis Cespedes and Lucas Duda.
Couple that with their downright filthy pitching and something Amazin’ seems to be brewing in Queens.
