Rick Nash, Jimmy Vesey propel New York Rangers against Carolina Hurricanes (Highlights)

Rick Nash and Jimmy Vesey helped the New York Rangers to a comeback victory over the Carolina Hurricanes at MSG on Tuesday night.[sc name=”Rangers Center Right” ]
- New York Rangers 3 (16-7-1, 33 pts)
- Carolina Hurricanes 2 (9-9-4, 22 pts)
- NHL, Final, Box Score
- Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
The answer came back in a definitive-type fashion. No. These guys are too good to lose five straight at MSG.
Despite trailing 2-0 in the second period, the Blueshirts rallied for three unanswered goals. Jimmy Vesey’s power play tally at the 14:48 mark of the third served as the game-winner.

The reason for the power play came via Ryan McDonagh drawing a penalty on Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ron Hainsey. To make matters worse, Hainsey barked at the referee and picked up an extra two.
Vesey wouldn’t have received the opportunity of scoring his first goal in eight games if it wasn’t for Rick Nash, who had himself a game. Nash was in on all three of his team’s goals, including a Nashty backhander just 24 seconds into the final frame accounting for his 10th of the season.
You just won't see a nastier backhander than this. Nashty. Rick Nash ties it at 2-2. #NYR pic.twitter.com/UJnr22Fofh

Nash was simply phenomenal in the contest, especially the third period.
The Rangers other goal-scorer was Nick Holden who didn’t give up on a play both Nash and Vesey assisted on:

The Canes jumped on the lifeless Rangers early. Former Ranger Victor Stalberg did the most damage by scoring his fifth and sixth goals of the season, both coming in the first period.
Henrik Lundqvist stopped 26-of-28 shots he faced while his counterpart, Cam Ward, could only snag 18-of-21.
The win now moves the Rangers to 33 points on the season, four points clear of the second-place Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metropolitan Division. Next up will be the Sabres in Buffalo on Thursday night.
