Following the release of new information regarding Josh Brown‘s domestic violence involvement, the New York Giants have signed kicker Robbie Gould.[sc name=”Giants Center Right” ]

Kicker Josh Brown will not be making the trip to London with the rest of the New York Giants. As more details have been unearthed about Brown’s domestic violence issues, the team has placed him on the commissioner’s exempt list. To fill the void at the position, New York has signed veteran Robbie Gould.

Per ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the deal for Gould is for one-year, pro-rated with eleven games left in the season.

Gould spent the entirety of his eleven year NFL career with the Chicago Bears, sitting atop the team’s all-time scoring list 1,207 points. In 2015, he made 84.6 percent of his field goal attempts while going 28-of-29 on extra points. His 33 made field goals last season were second only to Blair Walsh‘s 34.

However, Gould struggled during his 2016 preseason campaign with Chicago. He missed a field goal and two extra points, leading to his eventual release from the team.

Gould will kick for the Giants against the Los Angeles Rams in London after spending less than a week with his new team. New York will presumably rely on the veteran as their starting placekicker for the remainder of the season.
