The saga is over for Anthony DeAngelo as the New York Rangers have agreed to terms with the defenseman, ending his holdout.
The New York Rangers announced they have agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman Anthony DeAngelo after his initial holdout from training camp.
The 23-year-old appeared in 61 games for the Blueshirts last season, recording four goals along with 26 assists.
DeAngelo reached career-highs in games played, assists, points, and average ice time (19:20) during 2018-19. He is certainly part of the top-four defensemen on the team.
Unwilling to sign his qualifying offer from the team in June, DeAngelo held out of training camp as he continued to negotiate with general manager Jeff Gorton and the organization.

A local kid from Sewell, New Jersey, DeAngelo was acquired in a trade with Arizona in June 2017. He was a first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
The deal is reportedly a one-year deal worth $925,000, per Vincent Z. Mercogliano of Lohud.com.
Resolving DeAngelo’s contract situation is a solid step forward for the team. Head coach David Quinn now has his full roster as the season approaches.
Forward Brendan Lemieux recently signed a similar one-year deal worth $925,000 just before the start of camp.
Rangers cut four players
The Rangers trimmed their roster on Friday morning, announcing the assignments of Brandon Crawley, Jake Elmer, Vincent LoVerde, and Darren Raddysh to training camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
