New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway is focusing on their upcoming series in Colorado after losing two of three to the Dodgers.
Just a few days ago, the New York Mets found themselves 2.0 games back in the National League Wild Card race. Now, they’re back where they started.
After losing two out of three games to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Mets are 4.0 games back of the second Wild Card spot. They currently trail the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, and Washington Nationals.
The Mets need to step it up on this upcoming six-game road trip, starting with three games against the Colorado Rockies. Despite being this many games out with 13 let to play, manager Mickey Callaway is focusing the team’s energy before their stint at Coors Field.

“When their backs are against the wall, they do special things. They’ve proved that time and time again, and I think they’re going to continue to prove that,” the Mets second-year manager said. “We’ve got to go take care of business in Colorado. A tough place to go. A tough travel night. There are no excuses. We’ve got to wake up, come out, swing the bats, and get the job done.”
The Rockies are nowhere near the level of baseball that the Dodgers are at. In fact, Colorado is at the basement of the NL West with a record of 65-85.
The Mets could definitely steal a sweep on the road in this series. However, the spot they’re in is contingent upon what Milwaukee and Chicago are able to do in the coming weeks.
