Osi Umenyiora and Jason Pierre-Paul go way back to their days as fellow Super Bowl-winning New York Giant defensive ends.

Real Giants fans remember former defensive coordinator Perry Fewell’s “NASCAR” package. It was a pass-rushing package that focused on speed and proved to be a huge part of Big Blue’s defensive success en route to the team’s Super Bowl 46 title.

The Giants, of course, were loaded on the defensive line that year, and a pair of their then-pass rushers actually reconnected on a media Zoom call Monday.

Current Buccaneer and former Giant Jason Pierre-Paul spoke to the press ahead of Super Bowl 55 (this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET) when a familiar face — none other than Osi Umenyiora — crashed the call.

“I didn’t even have a question, I just wanted to say what’s up,” Osi said, which was met with laugher and excitement from JPP.

The two were teammates in East Rutherford from 2010 when the Giants drafted Pierre-Paul until 2012 when Umenyiora played his final year with Big Blue prior to signing with the Falcons in free agency.

Needless to say, it’s amazing the comeback Pierre-Paul has been able to make after the 2015 fireworks incident along with the 2018 trade and 2019 car accident that left him with a neck injury. Now, he could be winning his second Super Bowl after earning his third-career Pro Bowl bid this season.

Osi eventually responded to the video of him and JPP via Twitter.

The retiree additionally took part in Tom Brady’s Monday Zoom call, which prompted the legendary quarterback to express how thankful he was not to be facing Umenyiora this Sunday.
