With so much going on with the New York Knicks, the Knicks State of Mind guys gather to talk Mike Miller’s debut and Carmelo Anthony.

The David Fizdale era is over. It’s Mike Miller‘s turn to try his hand at running the New York Knicks. The first-time NBA head coach got his feet wet in a thrilling game against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, but it ended in familiar fashion for the Knicks—a loss.

It’s far too early to make any sweeping conclusions about Miller, but there was definitely some energy in Madison Square Garden for Miller’s debut. The four-game road trip will tell us a lot more about how the new head coach will fare this season.

Speaking of that road trip, the Knicks open up against the Portland Trail Blazers and, of course, Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks legend finally appears to be in a stable situation after two strange seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets.

Melo spoke to a small group of reporters about his time in New York and how that relates to free agency this past summer. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving opted to sign with the Brooklyn Nets and Anthony understands why some guys wouldn’t want to take “the challenge” of playing for the Knicks.

After Portland, the Knicks have a winnable game against the hapless Golden State Warriors. The road trip ends with games against the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets.

The Knicks State of Mind guys aren’t too confident in the Knicks’ chances at gaining a split in these next four games.
