New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley meets young Big Blue fan who was snubbed of a Demarcus Lawrence autograph in September.
Back after the New York Giants‘ Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, a young fan asked Demarcus Lawrence for an autograph. However, the Pro Bowl defensive lineman scoffed at the kid, who was wearing a Giants jersey. Lawrence ultimately didn’t provide the fan with an autograph, which was met with much criticism.
The snub became a headline that week. Now, almost three months later, Giants running back Saquon Barkley is responding in a big way. Barkley flew the young fan, Kamil Bautista, and his family out to their recent home game against the Packers. He also provided the family with sideline passes along with autographs. A video of the star running back meeting the family was obtained by TMZ Sports.
It’s noted by TMZ that Kamil lives in Texas, which is where the Week 1 game was held. Barkley and the family additionally met up after the game, one in which the Giants lost 31-13 for their eighth straight defeat. Despite the tough matchup, it was a fantastic move by Barkley to give back.
Barkley rushed for 83 yards on 19 carries (4.4 yards-per-carry) while catching three balls for 32 yards.
Barkley has had a rough season for the most part. He missed three games earlier this year due to a high ankle sprain suffered during the Week 3 win in Tampa Bay.
Through nine games, the second-year pro has rushed for 544 yards and two touchdowns.
