Former New York Giants defensive end Chris Canty comes to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones‘ support after Monday night’s loss.
The New York Giants have dropped to 2-7 after their most recent loss to the division rival-Dallas Cowboys. A 38-17 goose egg led to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones impairing his record as a starter to 2-5 after it began with a 2-0 start. The 22-year-old threw for 210 yards and a touchdown but also turned the ball over three times (one pick, two lost fumbles).
Jones now has 16 turnovers through seven starts (eight games). This includes eight picks along with eight lost fumbles. So are the Giants in trouble with their No. 6 overall draft pick? Is it time to consider possibly switching back to Eli Manning?
You’re entitled to your own opinion, of course. However, don’t say anything like that to former Giants defensive end Chris Canty.
But returning to what he actually said, there’s definitely reason to believe he’ll be the next franchise quarterback. It’s what fans are hoping for, nonetheless. The turnovers have been an issue, but he’ll learn, just like any other young quarterback.
It’s tough to come in as a rookie and play in this position, but he’s handling it with grace thus far.
