The New York Giants have cut into the Arizona Cardinals lead even more with a recovered blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown.

After a 17-0 deficit to the Arizona Cardinals at one point, the New York Giants have decreased the lead to 17-14.

With the Cardinals backed up deep and punting out of their own end zone, Giants safety Michael Thomas blocked a punt from Cardinals punter Andy Lee. Running back and special teams weapon Elijhaa Penny then recovered the fumble in the end zone for the score.

The play lit up MetLife Stadium with cheers and excitement, as the caption on the tweet says it all. We do, indeed, have a game in East Rutherford, NJ.

Big Blue initially allowed two touchdowns from Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds. That, along with an Arizona field goal, put the last-place Cardinals up 17-0. However, the Giants got on the board with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to tight end Rhett Ellison.

It was Jones’ sixth touchdown of his inaugural season in the pros. Ellison, on the other hand, caught his first touchdown of the year in a tight window. All-in-all, it was a great ball thrown by Jones. The Giants and Cardinals head into the half on Sunday with the score still 17-14 Arizona.

If the Giants pull off the win, they’ll improve to 3-4 on the year. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are both 3-3 and face off against each other on Sunday night. Thus, the Giants could eventually be tied for second place in the division if they defeat Arizona.
