The New York Giants have a “focus on the task at hand” mentality heading into their Week 7 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite heading into Week 7 with a 2-4 record, the New York Giants are one game behind in the NFC East race. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are at the top of the division, both sporting 3-3 records. If the Giants emerge victorious against the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday, they could remain one game out, as the Cowboys and Eagles face each other on Sunday night.

However, neither Philly nor Dallas is on their minds. Nor, is the result of that NFC East matchup on “Sunday Night Football.” What the Giants are focused on is improving to 3-4. They’ll be able to do that if they prevent the Cardinals from winning their third consecutive game on Sunday.

“Our focus is on Arizona,” head coach Pat Shurmur said, per Emily Iannaconi of Sports Illustrated. “You control [the noise in the division race] by winning games.”

Players on this roster are echoing Shurmur’s main message this week. This includes their newly-acquired safety and second-leading tackler Jabrill Peppers.

“We’re worried about what we have to take care of week by week, day today,” the University of Michigan product said.

“Right now, that’s getting prepared for Arizona. We’re only worried about what’s going on in this building. We have a good team coming up that’s coming off a good win. They have a lot of weapons that we have to prepare for, a lot of spread offense, so that’s where our main concern is.”

If the Giants want to improve to 3-4, they’ll need to pick apart this Arizona secondary early. The Cardinals defense is last in the NFL in interceptions (0) as well as allowed touchdowns (16). They’re 30th in the league with 281.2 passing yards allowed-per-game.
