WFAN’s Mike Francesa is vehemently against New York Giants fans giving Daniel Jones the nickname “Danny Dimes.”

Daniel Jones is one of the best stories in the NFL, but WFAN’s Mike Francesa has one issue with the New York Giant quarterback. He hates his nickname.

“I think it’s one of the worst — I don’t know where it came from. I don’t know who started it. I think ‘Danny Dimes’ is one of the worst nicknames I have ever heard,” Francesa said on Thursday.

“It makes my skin crawl to hear ‘Danny Dimes.’ I think it is awful.”

Francesa feels strongly about Jones’ nickname, but he might come around on it eventually. He has already made a complete turnaround on Jones’ arm strength.

Right after the Giants drafted Jones sixth overall, Francesa was certain that Jones didn’t have a strong arm. However, not even five months later, the Sports Pope declares that “everyone knew he could throw the ball.”

Jones is off to a fast start in his Giants career despite the polarizing nickname. Through three starts, Jones has racked up 760 yards, four touchdowns, and most importantly, two wins.

Like most rookie quarterbacks, Jones has had trouble taking care of the ball. He has three interceptions and three fumbles in four career games.

Jones will take on a familiar Giant nemesis for the first time in his career on Thursday—the New England Patriots. Head coach Bill Belichick will try and take advantage of the rookie on the short week.

Danny Dimes is going to try and follow in Eli Manning’s footsteps once again and knock off Tom Brady and the Pats.
