Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan just turned up the dial on his legend status by owning his own “foot controversy” live on-air.

Legends come in all shapes and sizes. There’s Will Smith in “I Am Legend.” We have Muhammad Ali, of course. And then there’s Rex Ryan, obviously.

The former New York Jets head coach owned his very own “foot controversy” in grand style, live, on-air.

On ESPN’s “Get Up,” with Mike Greenberg and Jalen Rose, Ryan didn’t shy away from his somewhat hilarious past.

While with the Jets, a video surfaced featuring Ryan, his wife and feet. We’ll just leave it at that.

Sitting by while the subject of Bobby Carpenter explaining how he’d remove his toenails prior to every NFL season, Ryan responded with a legend sentence.

“Well, let’s not talk about feet.”

Ryan, 56, enjoyed two incredible seasons with the Jets, in 2009 and 2010, respectively, eventually making two AFC Championship Games. After a disappointing 8-8 season in 2010, it all eventually started to fall apart. Mike Tannenbaum gave way to John Idzik and Rex was eventually relieved of his duties.

After two failed seasons in Buffalo with the Bills, Ryan took to the media end of things. Obviously, equipped with a tremendous personality, he’s oftentimes a media company’s dream.

Just don’t discuss feet. Or, actually, go ahead and discuss it all you’d like. Rex Ryan will take it and spin it into comedy gold.
