Amed Rosario and Dom Smith opened the scoring for the New York Mets on Thursday with back-to-back home runs.
Before the San Francisco Giants could blink, the New York Mets grabbed an early 2-0 lead. Amed Rosario led the game off with an opposite-field shot. Not to be outdone, Dom Smith belted a solo shot of his own deep into right field.

The damage was done against Shaun Anderson, 24, who is making the fifth start of his career. The Mets were able to get their next two baserunners on but failed to score another run in the first frame. Regardless, Rosario and Smith were able to give Zack Wheeler a little breathing room.
Wheeler is looking to bounce back from a string of tough starts. Over his last four games, the right-hander has a 5.27 ERA. Wheeler has been able to keep the Mets in games, but he hasn’t looked like the dominant force he was in the second half of 2018.
