HBO’s John Oliver, helped by fellow Mets fan Jon Stewart, calls rooting for the New York Yankees the “wrong thing to do morally.”

HBO’s John Oliver not only roots for the New York Mets, but he also abides by a code pertaining to the Yankees.

He made sure not to become a Yanks fan because it’s the “wrong thing to do morally.”

“As a real sports fan in England, I knew it’s just not acceptable to come to America and support the Yankees. It’s just not OK. By default, I was a Mets fan because I knew being a Yankees fan was the wrong thing to do morally.”

The “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” host told Pix 11 the enraging (for Yankees fans) bit of information while sitting in his seat.

Of course, the aforementioned Stewart is to blame. Oliver, who worked for Stewart on “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, took to his boss’s love for the Metropolitans instead of turning to the Evil Empire.

On Sunday, the Mets took down the Detroit Tigers 4-3. Winners of six of their last seven games, John Oliver’s club is now sitting at .500 (26-26) and in third place in the NL East. The immoral ballclub is currently gliding with a 34-18 record, good enough for first in the AL East.

Larry David, Jimmy Fallon, Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez and Billy Crystal all belong to the immoral list. (Jerry) Seinfeld, (Jim) Breuer, Stewart, Oliver … stay strong.

Oh yeah, it’s rumored Donald Trump is also a Yankees fan. Discuss amongst yourselves …
