“Dreams do come true,” the words that kicked off John Davidson’s day while standing at the podium at the Hulu Theater.

At a press conference with Sam Rosen in attendance, JD stood in front of the familiar New York Rangers’ backdrop as he spoke about what it means to be the new president of the hockey club. It was great to finally see John Davidson back home where he belongs.

John Davidson, holding back tears at times, spoke to the media about what he expects from the organization as well as what he hopes to do in the future to get the Rangers back to it’s winning tradition.

“I want to continue what’s been started here and that’s to build the Rangers to become perennial Stanley Cup contenders,”   Davidson said.

Speaking of his time with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Davidson acknowledged that he did watch his share of Rangers hockey games. He enjoyed his time as president of the Blue Jackets but stated what most fans felt and understood. The only job he would leave Columbus for would be with the Rangers.

During his press conference, JD spoke about what he and CEO James Dolan discussed. As was reported in a tweet by Dan Rosen of NHL.com, James Dolan told JD whatever he needs in this job as the Rangers president, he is going to get.

Davidson loved to hear that because that’s what you need to build a perennial Stanley Cup contender.

JD along with GM Jeff Gorton now can prepare to get the Blueshirts ready for the NHL Entry Draft next month and then the free agency period which begins July 1.

Welcome home, JD; the fun part is over. Now its time to get the Blueshirts back on track.
