Young Kaapo Kakko is starting to really make things interesting. Have the New Jersey Devils yet stopped in their tracks pertaining to the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft?

On Thursday against Denmark, young Kakko took a pass and flamed down the right side of the ice only to deke from forehand to backhand and then forehand again to sneak it into the short side of the net.

Kakko is still expected to be the No. 2 overall pick in next month’s draft. Only Jack Hughes surpasses Kakko’s current stock. The player the Devils pass on will most likely be Broadway-bound as the next employee of the New York Rangers.

As an extra treat, Kakko showcased his magician shootout skills in practice:

Who is this guy? Better yet, “what” is this guy? Is he even human?

Rarely does talent like this show face at such an early age. Experts peg him as the more NHL-ready talent as opposed to Hughes. The question remains, “Who’ll turn out the greater NHL career over the long run?”

For now, both the Devils and Rangers watch with a little over a month to go before the show officially hits the hockey world. The two kids in question have a shot to impact both local franchises significantly.

The only thing we can do is sit back, relax and enjoy the freakish hockey show with jaw-dropping talent as the featured attraction.
