The marketing strategy is beyond brilliant.
With the hit HBO drama series back—through two “reunion-type episodes”—the Metropolitan’s placement on May 27, 2019, hits the mark. There’s also no better baseball player to sit on the Iron Throne. Thor could easily make a Westeros transition. In fact, he could slide ride in as a Dothraki screamer.

Syndergaard, 26, hasn’t enjoyed a terrific start to the new campaign. Through five starts, Noah of House Syndergaard owns a 5.90 ERA, 1.276 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 29 total innings pitched. He’ll take the opening ball from Mickey Callaway when his Mets look to rebound from a blowout loss at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night.
More fitting is the fact Syndergaard is a Game of Thrones fan. He’s routinely discussed the show on Twitter. Oh yeah, he also made a cameo.

Noah of House Syndergaard will oppose RHP Brandon Woodruff, whose career kicked off after he crossed the Narrow Sea. First pitch comes your way at 7:10 p.m. ET from Citi Field and can be seen on WPIX.
Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 is set to premiere on Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET. And yes, it’s the 80-minute Winterfell Army of the Dead battle that’ll stop the world for a solid chunk of time.
