The New York Rangers have recalled defenseman Ryan Lindgren from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

This will be the 21-year-old’s second stint with the Rangers this season. He appeared in three games for the Blueshirts in January, averaging 13 minutes of ice time while recording no points.

Lindgren was obtained by the Rangers in February 2018 when the team traded Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins. The Blueshirts also received Ryan Spooner, who has since been traded for Ryan Strome earlier this season, Matt Beleskey, and Boston’s first-round pick in 2018 NHL Entry Draft, and a seventh-round pick in 2019.

In 63 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack, Lindgren has 12 assists to go along with 92 penalty minutes.

Lindgren was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (49th Overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rangers coaching staff has not made any statement regarding their lineup for Friday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Rookie Filip Chytil missed Wednesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators with defenseman Brendan Smith playing on the fourth line as a forward. The recall likely means Lindgren will play in one or both of the final two games this season.

Following the final home games of the season on Friday night, the Blueshirts will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins in the season finale.

The Rangers have now missed postseason play for the second consecutive season.
