With Amed Rosario now seemingly off limits, Brandon Nimmo or Michael Conforto represent the New York Mets centerpiece in the J.T. Realmuto deal.
Perhaps young Brodie Van Wagenen isn’t so ready to dish out his young shortstop after all.
According to Tim Healey of Newsday, Amed Rosario appears out of the J.T. Realmuto discussions.
In Mets' continued pursuit of J.T. Realmuto, talks revolve around Michael Conforto/Brandon Nimmo over Amed Rosario, source says. One of those guys – not multiple – would the centerpiece.
Among the NYM prospects MIA has been keen on: Andres Gimenez, Ronny Mauricio, Mark Vientos.

With no Rosario, Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto now lead the way, as one of them would represent the centerpiece to a potential deal.
Despite the New York Mets intent on acquiring the NL All-Star catcher, the Miami Marlins remain extremely tough in negotiations.
The specific description of what’s currently being asked in return is “exorbitant,” via Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Realmuto #Mets’ No. 1 catching target, sources say; GM Van Wagenen represented him while at CAA, and knows how much he offers. However, NYM remain unwilling to meet #Marlins’ price, which they consider exorbitant. Remember: MIA asked #Braves for Albies, #Dodgers for Bellinger.

Nothing has changed in terms of interest in the Marlins catcher. The Metropolitans are still in an exhaustive search for the right combination to strike a deal.
It may simply come down to seller’s remorse.
The little Miami received in return for Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna and, especially, Christian Yelich a year ago has them stubborn as ever.
No matter though. One would think a package featuring either Brandon Nimmo or Michael Conforto could fetch the New York Mets J.T. Realmuto in the end.
