Some New York Knicks “fans” have taken to social media to express their displeasure in the job David Fizdale has done thus far with the team. To those “fans,” I have only one thing to say. You are a load of idiots.

Kelly's Comments

New York fans are never satisfied.

Baseball team wins 100 games and makes the playoffs? Screw them for not winning the whole thing. Football team gives you two Super Bowl victories over that coward Tom Brady? Who cares, they’re only average all the other years. Hockey team does anything? Well, I guess no one really cares about Hockey.

The New York Knicks, though …

Any instance in which the Knicks do anything, fans will not hesitate to jump down the throats of the people making the decisions—especially if everything is going exactly according to the agreed upon plan.

The Knicks are in the beginning stages of a rebuild throughout the whole organization. They come equipped with new members of the front office, a new head coach, and a bunch of young players looking to find their footing in against the greatest basketball players in the world.

Knicks fans asked for the rebuild. They begged the team to trade off veterans for young players and picks. They begged them to fire Jeff Hornacek because he refused to favor young talent over experienced veterans. They begged James Dolan to launch Phil Jackson into the sun and bring us somebody who could change the culture and create sustained success.

That is exactly what we got with Scott Perry, David Fizdale, and a slew of high ceiling youngsters.

So if we got exactly what we wanted, why are some fans calling for Fizdale’s head?

I’ve run out of the patience needed to tolerate dummies like this.

Rebuilding teams lose games. Rebuilding teams hit development snags. Rebuilding teams have a lot of lineup turnover. These are all the things we as Knicks fans signed up for when we begged the front office to lead us out of constant mediocrity.

We finally got our wish and some want to throw Fizdale to the wolves already. The one coach the Knicks have had in years who actually inspires confidence in the future.

Fizdale is a fantastic coach. He knows what a championship organization looks like. He knows where our young players need to be to get the Knicks there and he knows how to unlock that potential. Most importantly, he knows how to get his guys to play hard for him each and every night.

So yes, if you want David Fizdale fired 20 games into his first season with one of the youngest rosters in the league, you are a gigantic idiot.
