New York Rangers’ Jesper Fast scores team’s first goal of 2018-19 (Video)

The hockey season is officially underway and the most underrated New York Rangers player, Jesper Fast, scored the team’s first goal.

You’ve got to love Jesper Fast.

With the New York Rangers trailing in their season opener to the Nashville Predators, they needed a spark. They got that spark thanks to their third line of Ryan Spooner, Filip Chytil, and Jesper Fast.

Just look at the cycle from this line here. Fast gets the puck in the corner and then Filip Chytil heads over right towards the puck. Chytil then flashes the skill that Ranger fans fell in love with last year with a backhand pass to Fast, crashing the net to tie the game at one.

Fast scored a career-high 13 goals last season for the Blueshirts after seeing an increased role down the stretch. His solid all-around game makes him the dream player for any coach, and it is refreshing to see him rewarded for his style of play.

This season Fast looks to not only continue to keep his solid all-around game as a part of what he is known for, but he looks to add some goals to the resume.

He was named an alternate captain prior to the start of the season, an honor he had for a couple of games down the stretch a year ago.

If this line can continue to make slick plays like this, the Rangers will be in great shape offensively as the season progresses. It is a great mix of skill and defensive awareness, and it should be a look we see for at least the first few weeks of the year.

It is just the beginning of the hockey season, but boy is it nice to hear that Rangers goal song once again.

The Rangers and Predators are tied at one in the final stages of the second period.
