The New York Giants have finally benched right tackle Ereck Flowers in favor of Chad Wheeler, just in time for J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans.

It has finally happened. The New York Giants have actually pulled the trigger on benching Ereck Flowers.

According to multiple reports, Pat Shurmur and the Jints will start Chad Wheeler at right tackle in favor of the struggling former first-round Jerry Reese selection.

Flowers, 24, was the 10th overall pick circa 2015. The Miami product has started all but two games at either the left or right tackle position since entering the league.

Unfortunately, his production as a professional hasn’t come close to touching his hyped draft status.

Nate Solder was signed this past offseason to replace Flowers on the left side of the unit, Eli Manning’s blind side. Despite moving to the more run-friendly power right side, Flowers has still struggled mightily. It’s been clear as day.

Wheeler, 24, played in 11 Jints games a season ago while starting five. He’ll make his first start of the 2018 season against a nasty group of pass rushers within the Houston Texans front seven. J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Duke Ejiofor will all bring the heat for a squad hungry for its first victory of the young campaign.

Kickoff from Houston comes your way at 1 p.m. ET.
