New York Giants receiver Sterling Shepard became a father on Monday, as he and his wife, supermodel Chanel Iman, welcomed a baby girl.

The third-year New York Giants receiver and his wife, model Chanel Iman, welcomed their first child this weekend, a baby girl named Cali Clay Shepard. Both he and Iman unveiled the news via his Instagram account on Sunday night.
Shepard spoke about the good news on Monday after Giants practice. In a video obtained by ESNY’s own Jason Leach, Shepard reported, with a smile, that the birth was “pretty graphic”, but implied that mother and child are doing great. He revealed that Iman’s water broke the morning after the Giants preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, rushing them both to the hospital.
“I was thinking it was going to happen on that game day,” Shepard said. “But we woke up the next morning and she stood up and her water broke, so we went right to the hospital. She did great, a great job. I was there every step of the way.”

Shepard, 24, also revealed that Cali Clay arrived nine days before her due date. He went on to call her a “considerate” baby, as he had been planning not to make the trip to Detroit to be around for her birth. The Giants will partake in several joint practices with the Detroit Lions later this week before the visit culminates in a preseason game at Ford Field (7:00 p.m. ET, WNBC).
“I wasn’t going to go to Detroit for the first few days,” he said. “But she came out a little bit early for us.”
Shepard and Iman announced their engagement in December 2017, and were married in March in Beverly Hills. Iman, 27, is perhaps best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret, walking in the lingerie and sleepwear brand’s iconic Fashion Show in 2009-11. She has also appeared as an actress in the films Dope and Mad Families. Cali Clay already has her own Instagram page, set up by her mother.
The Giants’ second-round pick in 2016, Shepard, an Oklahoma alum, has tallied 1,414 yards and 10 touchdowns on 124 receptions in his first couple of years. He tallied three 100-yard games last season, including a career-high 142 in a November visit to San Francisco.
