On Wednesday, nose tackle Damon Harrison made the claim that rookie B.J. Hill is the New York Giants most athletic defensive.

Prior to Wednesday’s practice, nose tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison spoke with the media.

The first question he was asked surrounded his relationship with the other defensive linemen, second-year defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson, and rookie B.J. Hill.

“Me and Dalvin developed a great relationship last year, so it was kind of a carryover. We spoke a lot during the offseason, and B.J., he’s an interesting character, man. I don’t know if you guys have been watching, but he’s probably the most athletic defensive lineman that we have, and that says a lot. He can do a little bit of everything, which is encouraging to see, so I’m excited to get a chance to go out there preseason game one and beyond it and actually see what he can do during gameday.”

For Harrison to give Hill that kind of praise speaks volumes to the youngster’s talent, especially when considering Snacks was an All-Pro in 2016 and Tomlinson was named Pro Football Focus’ best rookie interior defensive lineman last season.

The Giants drafted Hill in the third round (69th overall) and from the praise that he’s received from his teammates and coaches, getting him in the third round is looking like a steal.

The most talked about rookie in New York Giants camp has been Saquon Barkley, and while Barkley is one of the favorites to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, Hill needs to start getting mentioned as one of the players that can win Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Jason's first love was football while growing up in northern New Jersey. For the past three years, he has covered the New York Giants, as well as several boxing events along the East Coast.
