Ville Meskanen who recently signed with the New York Rangers felt the choice to come to the Blueshirts was an easy one.

Finnish forward Ville Meskanen signing with the New York Rangers last month was an easy decision for him to make as it gives him the best chance to play in the NHL. Speaking to Miika Arponen of Kiekkoareena.fi, Meskanen spoke of his decision to choose the Rangers and said that the decision was “easy”.

The 22-year old recorded 24 goals with 20 assists for 44 points which were all career highs for the winger. His goal total ranked him third in Liggia and his nine power play goals ranked him sixth.

Meskanen led all players 22 years old and younger in goals and points during the season, and had 13 multi-point games.

The forward will now have the summer to get himself prepared for Rangers training camp in September. He hopes to get the opportunity to make the jump to the NHL and knows there is no time to waste.

His time to get himself ready to participate in camp will begin following the NHL Draft in late June when the Rangers host their player development camp. This will be the time when Meskanen will get to visit the Rangers training facility, meet fellow Ranger prospects and get the opportunity to visit New York City.

“The Rangers made the choice easy for me,” Meskanen said to Matt Calamia of NYRangers.com. “They really want me and I want to go to New York and join the Rangers. They’re giving me a chance, and that’s all I really need.”

His confidence is what lead him to get the chance to play for the Rangers. Now the organization hopes his skill will give him the ability to stay in New York and a chance to play under the lights at Madison Square Garden.
