David Fizdale took Frank Ntilikina, Emmanuel Mudiay, and Damyean Dotson to the Eastern Conference Finals in a fun little field trip for the guys.

Look at those guys just having a good time. David Fizdale is saying and doing all the right things during his short tenure as head coach of the New York Knicks. Emmanuel Mudiay took to social media to show how much fun he and his teammates, Frank Ntilikina and Damyean Dotson, are having at the Eastern Conference Finals.

This feels like when the varsity coach takes some of the promising young guys on the JV team to go watch the county championship. He wants them to get a feel for where they eventually hope to get. They’re getting a glimpse of their future.

You really can’t say it enough, but Fizdale is doing a really good job thus far. He seems to have a plan in place and he’s already making meaningful connections with his players—more specifically, the young guys that hope to make up the nucleus of this team for years to come.

That being said, Fiz has yet to face any real test during his short tenure in New York. Taking guys to a playoff game and buying them all popcorn is all well and good, but enjoy the honeymoon phase while you can.

Because if Mudiay, Ntilikina, and company struggle next season and show little signs of improvement, no one will remember this fun little field trip. At the end of the day, fans want to see results, improvement, and eventually, an Eastern Conference Finals that the Knicks are actually playing in.
