LeBron James isn’t ready to give up on being the “King of New York.” He wore some unique sneakers against the New York Knicks tonight to prove it.

LeBron James isn’t backing down from his belief that he’s the “King of New York.” In the New York Knicks final home game of the season, the best player in the NBA worse sneakers which read “I’m King.” This was as blatant a display of NBA trolling as you get.

The beef between James and the Knicks began back in Nov. when James made a post to Instagram in which he initially called himself the King of New York. Knicks center Enes Kanter took exception to James’ assertion; saying that New York already had a king.

It was Kristaps Porzingis. Fans rallied around their new hero, Kanter, who didn’t back down from LeBron alongside rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina. Kanter had the rook’s back. He earned his reputation as a fan favorite right there.

James has always played well at the Garden, and like many stars before him has had a strange relationship with the city. It explains his desire to be the King of New York. He won’t play his home games there, but he wants to rule the city anyway.
