The New York Rangers recalled forward Vinni Lettieri from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The New York Rangers made an expected roster move on Wednesday, recalling forward Vinni Lettieri from the Hartford Wolf Pack. The move was announced on the official Twitter account of the team.

Although undrafted, Lettieri has shown promising signs with the Wolf Pack. He’s scored at a 29 goal pace and a 51 point pace (AHL teams play 76 games as opposed to the 82 that NHL teams play).

Lettieri had a very nice camp with the team, lasting until late in camp. He was waived because the team wanted him to play top line minutes with the Wolf Pack, something that he wouldn’t have been able to do with the big club.

If Kreider is unable to play against Detroit, Lettieri would slot in as the 12th forward. He will obviously be hoping to impress the coaching staff and show that he is ready to stick in the NHL.

He’ll have an intense welcome to the NHL. His first game will be against Original Six rival Detroit, and he’ll follow that up by playing in the Winter Classic.
