The New York Rangers were off on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop them from adding depth to the organization.

The Rangers made the Marek Mazanec signing official yesterday and assigned him to Hartford. Mazanec saw time with the Nashville Predators in parts of three seasons and will most likely see the bulk of playing time in for the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Alexandar Georgiev was returned to Hartford after dressing as Ondrej Pavelec‘s backup in the Rangers 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. This move likely means that the Henrik Lundqvist is feeling better and should be available against the Washington Capitals Friday night. Lundqvist missed Tuesday night’s game with the flue.

Prospect Watch

Filip Chytil and Lias Andersson have been named to their respective countries World Junior Championship Tournament rosters. Andersson was taken with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NHL entry-draft and has scored 13 points in 20 games for Frolunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League. Andersson will forever be linked to the Derek Stepan trade so this is big for his prospect status.

After being sent to Hartford, Filip Chytil has been tearing it up with 12 points in 15 games. The Rangers gave Chytil a chance after a successful pre-season but ultimately decided that he was better off in Hartford. Chytil is currently day-to-day with a cervical strain.
