Look like Aaron Judge will grace the cover of MLB The Show this year. An obvious choice from a sales perspective. #Yankees pic.twitter.com/RXDYYo1pZZ

Following a historic rookie campaign, New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge is chosen as the cover man for MLB The Show 18.
This is no surprise. Aaron Judge is coming off of what may be the best rookie season in the history of baseball and he plays in one of the biggest markets in baseball. MLB The Show went with Ken Griffey, Jr. for the cover in 2017 following his hall of fame induction. They are going a decidedly different route with Judge.
Clearly, the game franchise is trying to capitalize on Judge’s meteoric rise to prominence. This past season he became a household name and he may never be more marketable than he is right now. There are plenty of other players that could have been chosen like Jose Altuve, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout or even the NL’s rookie phenom Cody Bellinger. Judge beating out these guys for the cover is a testament to his likability.
The elusive search for the “face of baseball” is one of the most tiresome and unnecessary conversations throughout baseball circles. There is no need to have that conversation, but if it is Aaron Judge, baseball fans are in good hands.
