The New York Rangers are still in a nasty slump to start off this season, but they did have positives coming out of Tuesday night’s loss to Pittsburgh.

  • New York Rangers (1-5-1, 3 pts)
  • New York Islanders (2-3-1, 5 pts)
  • NHL, Metro, Oct. 17, 7 p.m. ET, MSG-plus
  • Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

Matt Calamia of NewYorkRangers.com writes that Alain Vigneault saw a lot of positives things that came out of the Rangers game Tuesday night.

Head Coach Alain Vigneault said, “I look at the things we’ve been working on,” he continued. “We’re taking huge steps in the right direction in all facets of our game, defensively and offensively. It’s just a matter of time before we put it all together.”

The Rangers had the same lineups at practice today with the exception of Ryan McDonagh who had the day off for what was described as a “maintenance” day. Nick Holden took his place at practice.

Rangers first-round draft pick Lias Andersson scored twice for Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey league last night. Prospect Ty Ronning had a pair of goals for Vancouver in its 5-4 overtime win against Prince Albert. Great to see the future New York Rangers doing well in their respective leagues.

Newsday’s Steve Zipay wrote about how Madison Square Garden has not been so nice to the Rangers. The currently have a 1-3-1 and are in a middle of a six-game homestand which continues tomorrow night against the New York Islanders 7 p.m. ET at MSG.
