The New York Rangers, Buffalo Sabres and the NHL held a press conference earlier today to talk Winter Classic at Citi Field.
Players from both the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers took part in a Friday afternoon press conference to officially announce the 10th NHL Winter Classic, to be held at Citi Field on Jan. 1, 2018.
Representing the Rangers were Ryan McDonagh and Rick Nash, while Jack Eichel, Jason Pominville and Ryan O’Reilly were on hand for the Sabres.
“Thank you to the Mets, NHLPA, NHL and Bridgestone to help set up this amazing experience we get to encounter during the season,” McDonagh said, per SNY. “There are some defining moments that shape the Winter Classic so I know that both teams will compete very hard when it’s time and we can add to this great tradition that the Winter Classic has brought to our game.”

Now that the buzz around the Classic has started to pick up regarding the Classic, the question on everyone’s minds is: What will the jerseys look like for this year’s event? This is the first year that Adidas is making the jersey for the NHL, so you might think they want to really impress the fans. This is purely speculation, but if you look at the Citi Field scoreboard in the tweet atop this article, there is an N.Y. logo. Now, this is not any Rangers logo I have seen before. Could this be a hint of what the Rangers Winter Classic jerseys might look like? We’ll have to wait and see.
A decade of amazing outdoor moments.

This isn’t the first time the Rangers or Sabres will be playing in a Winter Classic.
The Sabres played in the very first Winter Classic 10 years ago. The Rangers played in Philadelphia against the Flyers in 2012. They also have played in two Stadium Series games, against the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils in 2014.
