Another season is about to begin and that means another gorgeous mask for New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

The New York Rangers took to Twitter today to show off The King’s new mask for this upcoming season.

As is always the case, the mask was designed by David Gunnarsson and displayed on his Twitter account, @artofdave.  Henrik has been working with Gunnarsson to design his goalie masks for 19 straight years.

Gunnarsson also took to his Facebook page to show off his newest creation for Lundqvist.

And for good reason. The mask itself has lightning bolts and shows off the Statue of Liberty. This might be his finest work yet.

“It is with a great honor we unleash the latest chapter in Henrik Lundqvist’s mask art saga,” Gunnarsson wrote on his Facebook. “Henrik and I have been working together for 19 years now It is so amazing to paint and create every new mask for Henrik. Many awesome memories through the years, such as exclusive mask exhibitions on Manhattan, the hit TV series The Mask, Mask charity auctions, several trips to Manhattan, so many events I will always remember. This new mask is a direct continuation based on Henrik’s latest masks, with the electrical lightnings in focus, and it is also connected closely to his new pads And for sure all the DaveArt Trademark Super FX is unleashed all over the creation.”

What a job well done by Gunnarsson, per usual. Can’t wait to see Lundqvist brandish the mask throughout this season.
