On this edition of the New York Rangers Blueshirt Beat, captain Ryan McDonagh scores goals in two different fashions, the drive by and Da Beauty.

Defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Brady Skjei participated in the drive-by slap shot challenge.

Although admittedly, tougher than the Drive By Dunk Challenge, it provides a very Wayne’s World feel:

the drive-by slapshot challenge is a variation of the drive-by dunk challenge, where participants drive around looking for hockey nets to shoot into, as opposed to dunking on basketball hoops.

They did this in Minnesota because in August pretty much everything hockey related happens in Minnesota. They’re also both form Minnesota, which may have had something to do with it as well.

McDonagh was a busy man, as he also scored a goal in DaBeauty League up in Minnesota.

Twenty-eleven third round pick Steven Fogarty was also in action in DeBeauty, collecting an assist. Rangers forward Vinni Lettieri (undrafted free agent out of the NCAA) also scored a goal in his game.

Legendary defenseman Brian Leetch was named a coach for the All American Prospects Game by USA Hockey. The game is a showcase for top American prospects and is an exciting event every year. ESNY’s Frank Curto has the full story on this announcement.

Curto also wrote about how the dynamic between two veteran coaches in Alain Vigneault and Lindy Ruff will look, and how it will hopefully make the Rangers a stronger team overall.
