New York Rangers: Ryan McDonagh and Brady Skjei Partake In Drive By Slap Shot Challenge

With New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh and teammate Brady Skjei in Minnesota for the Da Beauty League Tournament, the two decided to take their shot at the #DriveBySlapshotChallenge.

The concept is simple: Drive around the neighborhood looking for a net. When you find one, jump out, run to the next and let loose a slap shot.

As you’d expect, there’s no shortage of hockey nets sitting in driveways and on front lawns in Minnesota. But the pair of Rangers didn’t just shoot at hockey nets, taking shots at soccer goals and, in one case, a tire hanging from a tree.

What makes this whole thing all the more hysterical is watching McDonagh and Skjei trying to quickly get in-and-out of their car with hockey sticks in tow.

This video shows the boys making six stops at different nets as they drive through what appears to be a quiet  Minnesota neighborhood. While the ideal scenario involves shooting on a net while nobody is home, there are some people around to witness the pairs final two attempts.

We say attempts, and not shots, because well, let’s just say that neither one is as accurate shooting a hockey ball as they are shooting a puck. Chasing after the ball like they did back when they were young, playing at home, becomes necessary.

While hockey is their thing, Skjei wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to take part in the #DriveByDunkChallenge either, as you can see in the video below.

It’s great to see two professional athletes who play a game for a living having some childish fun on a sunny day.
