The NHL Expansion Draft has finally come to an end while the trade market heats up. The New York Rangers schedule has also been released.
Two days after the Las Vegas Knights drafted their roster for the 2017-2018 season the NHL trade market opened for business. In true New York Rangers fashion, GM Jeff Gorton has decided to make fans wait another day for a potential trade.
Of course, the main New York Rangers target to be traded is Derek Stepan with some sprinkles of Marc Staal rumors. As reported prior to the draft the Arizona Coyotes still remain a team of interest.
In other news, the Carolina Hurricanes may be setting themselves up for a blockbuster trade based on their activity thus far. Chicago Blackhawks’ Trevor van Riemsdyk along with a seventh-round pick in 2018 has been acquired by the Hurricanes in exchange for a second-round pick this weekend. The Carolina Hurricanes management could be stocking the blueline with young, talented defenseman or they could be making the necessary moves to trade one of their valued D-men. Justin Faulk for Derek Stepan (plus other amenities) anyone?
Although there is nothing concrete, there have been rumors of the New York Rangers talking to the Carolina Hurricanes. Could something be in the works? Only time will tell. Other large name players rumored to be changing teams include Alex Galchenyuk, Jason Demers, Matt Duchene, Travis Hamonic, Marc Methot, Marco Scandella, Tyson Barrie, and Matt Dumba to list a few.
The next several days, with both trade rumors and the entry level draft, should be an exciting time for all teams involved.

Oscar Lindberg Upset with New York Rangers Tenure?
The departure of Oscar Lindberg during the NHL expansion draft was not a surprise to many Rangers fans. Yet, what might be a surprise was the immediate reaction of Oscar Lindberg and his agent.
Oscar is off to Vegas. "Loves New York, loves winning, but also loves ice time," agent Claude Lemieux tells Post. https://t.co/VRMJXIaOos
— Larry Brooks (@NYP_Brooksie) June 22, 2017
Now I’m not saying that Lindberg was unhappy with his time in New York, but saying that he loves ice time implies that he was unhappy with his utilization on the Blueshirts. Look Oscar, your talents were used exactly how they should be by head coach Alain Vigneault. The role you play in Las Vegas will be almost identical to that of New York. Maybe a thank you, New York, quote would have been more in order. Sayonara Oscar
