Although the loss of a talented, young, center will sting for months to come it’s time to move on and prepare for the offseason. GM Jeff Gorton and the New York Rangers have a boatload of work ahead in this offseason.

The Blueshirts still need to sign free agents Mika Zibanejad, Jesper Fast, and Brendan Smith. Additionally, rumors of a Derek Stepan trade have surfaced with the Arizona Coyotes. Will Jeff Gorton make the big splash on Jul. 1 and sign Kevin Shattenkirk? Much remains to be seen. What does the future hold for the New York Rangers? Time will tell.

Normal hockey operations resume tomorrow at 8 a.m. ET and many reporters have confirmed that several trades are already confirmed and in queue to be released tomorrow morning. As suspected, the New York Rangers are rumored to be involved with many teams.
