According to Forbes, despite another disappointing season and a damaged reputation the New York Knicks are the NBA’s most valuable franchise.

There’s a lot of reasons to hate New York Knicks owner James Dolan. One of the biggest is the fact that while his team continues to struggle he keeps getting richer.

According to Forbes, the Knicks were the NBA’s most valuable franchise for the second straight season. The Knicks are valued at $3.3 billion.

This is despite two horrible seasons of non-playoff basketball. It speaks to the dedication of New York City basketball fans. No matter how bad the team is, people still go to the games.

Having stars like Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis boosts their profile, of course. It’s part of the reason why Dolan has been such a big supporter of Anthony’s over the years.

Rounding out the top five are the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Celtics. The Brooklyn Nets make an appearance at No. 7. Good for them.

It’s nice to know that no matter how terrible the Knicks are, James Dolan will always maintain a ridiculously profitable franchise.
