On this edition of New York Rangers Blueshirt Beat, we all hold hands and allow ourselves a little Pittsburgh Penguins depression.
It’s time to all become depressed. The Pittsburgh Penguins are once again in the NHL Final. Not only that, but they took Game 1 against the Nashville Predators in exciting fashion.
That’s right. This means Carl Hagelin and Mike Sullivan are just three wins away from their second Cup in back-to-back fashion. It means another former Ranger in Matt Cullen is on the verge. It means one of the most hated athletes in New York, Sidney Crosby, is closing in on his third title.
Why did it have to go down this way? I mean, Rangers fans aren’t that bad, right?
When John Tortorella was fired, many had the final straw in the breakup revolving around Sullivan. Glen Sather and company wanted Sullivan gone in favor of another assistant. Tortorella would have none of it.
Now, he’s leading the Pens to glory, again.
At this point, there’s nothing much we can do other than allowing the torture to continue.
