Mike Francesa, Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo Open to Reuniting for ‘Mike and the Mad Dog’ 2.0 (Video)

At the TriBeCa Film Festival, both Mike Francesa and Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo announced that ‘Mke and the Mad Dog’ 2.0 is, indeed, possible.

The rumor that keeps the heart of New York City sports alive continues to never die.

The Mike and the Mad Dog 30 for 30 ESPN documentary debuted at the TriBeCa Film Festival on Friday night. Both Mike Francesa and Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo were, appropriately, at the debut.

While folks were happy to see both New York city sports voices, they were happier when each didn’t deny the possibility of a Mike and the Mad Dog reunion.

“That’s the first time I ever heard you say that,” Chris “Mad Dog” Russo exclaimed as the two spoke on stage after the film aired.

“Would I listen if something is brought up?” Francesa asked. “Why not? I think it would be fun.”

Historically, Francesa has always thrown cold water on the idea, stating that it would be impossible financially. Since he announced he’d be leaving WFAN shortly after the new year, he’s been more open-minded to many possibilities.

“I’ve got a lot of people left to talk to,” Francesa said. “I’m not even halfway through but I’m definitely going to be doing something.”

“We’ve had more juice the last nine years than we ever did when we were together,” Russo said before the premiere. “But we’ve had a helluva relationship.”

The two reunited last year for a special that saw all proceeds go to the Garden of Dreams foundation.

For now, we dream with the one and only jingle forever stuck in the back of our minds.
