With Magnus Hellberg being called up on Sunday, questions have surfaced surrounding Henrik Lundqvist‘s availability for the New York Rangers.

On Sunday, as the New York Rangers look to recover from that stunning game two loss in Montreal, goaltender Magnus Hellberg was called up.

Immediately, those negative folks out there will automatically assume either Henrik Lundqvist or Antti Raanta are hurt and will be unavailable for game three at the Garden. Fortunately, that’s not necessarily the case. There are no roster maximums during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This could simply be a precaution in the direction of Raanta’s shaky knee.
Odds are, Lundqvist will be between the pipes and ready to go.
Still, Alain Vigneault has done a great job of keeping the Sunday lineup under wraps. Nobody knows if changes are coming, especially in the direction of defenseman Nick Holden who struggled mightily in game two.
