Playing in his home state of Minnesota, New York Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei ties the game with a wicked slap shot from the point.
Every athlete has that one special place they love to play. Obviously, playing at home in front of an all-out crowd is always nice. But aside from the team’s home game, there’s that one place that forces dates to be circled on the calendar.
When it comes to the New York Rangers, a road date against the Minnesota Wild does the trick for a few on the roster.
Captain Ryan McDonagh, Derek Stepan and Brady Skjei all hail from the state of Minnesota. So when the Rangers come to town, family finds its way to the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul and in the case of Saturday night’s game against the Wild, the Skjei family had much to cheer about in the first period.
Young Brady Skjei took a brilliant pass from Mats Zuccarello and blasted a wicked slap shot past Devan Dubnyk to tie the game at one (video above).
The two teams rest during the first intermission with the game knotted up at one apiece.
