In a pinch, the New York Rangers called-up goaltender Brandon Halverson on an emergency basis as Henrik Lundqvist is listed as day-to-day.

This is exactly what the New York Rangers didn’t need. At the same time, it’s probably not a big deal.
On Thursday, the team announced that they’ve called up goaltender Brandon Halverson on an emergency basis for the road game in Carolina against the Hurricanes. They’ve done so thanks to a lower-body injury plaguing starter Henrik Lundqvist.

OFFICIAL: #NYR Rick Nash (upper body day-to-day) is out tonight. Henrik Lundqvist (lower body day-to-day) is out tonight.

New York has listed the injury in great “detail” as of the lower-body variety.
Also out will be sniper Rick Nash, who is also suffering from the same condition via the other variety, the upper-body.
Injuries aside, the Rangers have looked great to kick off the current four-game road trip. After sweeping the Florida series (Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers), the NHL’s best road team will look for a third straight in Carolina on Thursday night, via AP.
“A lot of lines contributing there,” captain Ryan McDonagh said. “That’s a great sign. It gives a lot of confidence. We obviously want to keep the confidence rolling.”
Tanner Glass’s presence has felt instrumental in the team’s recent surge. His toughness and grittiness in the areas other Rangers don’t seem to excel in have gone a long way to the recent turnaround.
First puck-drop comes your way at 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on MSG Network.
