New York Mets pitchers we “mustache” you a question: Why all the facial hair?

Maybe they want to be Keith Hernandez of SNY. The New York Mets pitchers have recently begun growing mustaches.

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz all have mustaches now. Zack Wheeler still has his goatee so people can tell him apart from the others.

“I didn’t even notice – what mustaches?” deGrom said when asked about the facial hair. Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen, who also has a mustache, has a theory on why the Mets have facial hair.

“I think they all conspired,” Warthen said. “I think they are trying to tell me how bad mine is.”

If they aren’t trying to tell Warthen that his mustache is bad, then they could be copying the New York Yankees. In 2015  the Yankees players grew mustaches after Brett Gardner started growing his mustache.

No word yet on whether the facial hair will help the Mets be successful this year.

At least no beard is weird.
