Former New York Islander Mike Comrie under investigation for rape

TMZ Sports reported early this morning that former Islander Mike Comrie is under investigation for rape. The victim in question told law enforcement she was assaulted multiple times by Comrie.

Not much is known about the incident at the time, but according to TMZ Sports’ sources, two women were involved with former New York Islanders’ centerman Mike Comrie, who claims the relations were consensual.

One of the alleged victims argues otherwise and informed the Los Angeles Police Department early Wednesday morning, according to TMZ. The woman says she went immediately to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center nearby and asked for a rape-kit to be administered.

Sources close to Comrie say he insists he’s known her for a longtime and that she gave full consent. The other woman involved did not contact the authorities.

Comrie spent two seasons with the Islanders from 2007-2009, tallying 29 goals and 69 points in 117 games. He announced his retirement from hockey in February of 2012, after 13 seasons in the NHL with the Oilers, Flyers, Coyotes, Senators, Islanders and Penguins.
