New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz says the New England Patriots don’t want to play the Giants in the Super Bowl.
Could this year’s Super Bowl consist yet another New York Giants-New England Patriots rematch? Receiver Victor Cruz is not only talking about the possibility… He’s talking some trash, too.
“They don’t want to see us,” Cruz told Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. “I’m sure if you ask them (they’d say) they’d play anybody, they don’t care. I’m sure they don’t want to see us. That’s for sure.”
The postseason will feature both New York and New England for the first time since they squared off in Super Bowl XLVI.
Although either team might not care about who they play in the finale, Cruz may be right since the Giants are the only team that has beaten the Patriots in the Super Bowl in the last 15 years.
The Giants beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVII and again four years later in a championship that featured a two-yard touchdown reception by Cruz.
According to Football Outsiders, there is a 3.1 percent chance that the Giants and Patriots will play each other for the Lombardi trophy in what Cruz said would be yet another epic showdown if it were to happen.
