While Eli Manning and the New York Giants couldn’t upend the Eagles on TNF, they are tournament bound thanks to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Well, folks, it’s over. It’s official: you don’t have to worry about worst case scenarios that would have the New York Giants sitting home during the month of January.
Big Blue is NFL playoff bound.
While they may have lost the battle on Thursday Night Football, falling to the Philadelphia Eagles by a final of 24-19, they won the war.
Via the Tampa Bay Buccaneers falling to the New Orleans Saints on Saturday, the Giants have clinched an NFL Wild Card spot. The final turned out to be 31-24 in a game Drew Brees threw for 299 yards and a TD.
At 10-5, New York is locked into the No. 5 seed. It’s the Giants first playoff berth in five seasons.
As far as first round matchups are concerned, the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons are all possibilities.
New York will finish the season in D.C. when they’ll take on the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
