New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony Takes on Twitter Trolls in Footlocker Commercial (Video)

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony’s new Footlocker commercial takes aim at his haters. You all know who you are.

Carmelo Anthony has been a frequent target of criticism since he was traded to the New York Knicks in 2011.

He’s received plenty of negative attention for his lack of playoff success from both the media and even his peers.

Jared Dudley once referred to Melo as the league’s “most overrated player” (before pathetically backpedaling), but Anthony’s worst critics are the anonymous ones who take aim from behind their keyboards.

The age of the Twitter troll has not been kind to Melo. Even tonight against the Wizards, the haters have come out in full force.

Check out these gems.

And don’t get me started on this guy.

The commercial was on point from Melo, and you have to love if you’re a true fan of his, but it’s not likely to make any difference.

Anthony is criticized for holding the ball too long and playing lazy defense, among other things. For some reason, it seems like the majority choose to ignore the good.

The trolls have been needling at Melo for years; it’s great to see him hit back.
