On a night that young Pavel Buchnevich collected his first NHL goal, the New York Rangers handily defeated the Boston Bruins on the road.

Saturday night in Boston was just a different day for the New York Rangers to sing the same tune. The very familiar, exciting tune here is the offensive prowess the Blueshirts are displaying on a nightly basis.

Against a hot team in the Bruins and a hot goaltender in Tuukka Rask, Alain Vigneault‘s squad put up five goals in their 5-2 victory. Two of the goals were scored via the shorthanded variety.

It was Derek Stepan‘s first goal of the season late in the first period, set up by Michael Grabner that provided the Blueshirts their first lead of the night, one that would not be relented:

Interestingly enough, it was Boston who outshot the competition by a final tally of 37-24. But New York was just too skilled all night long. The passes were crisp and the depth was overwhelming.

Pavel Buchnevich, representing much of that depth along the fourth-line, collected his first NHL goal on this wicked wrist shot on the power-play:

Stepan’s incredible backhanded pass accounted for one of his three points of the night.

Antti Raanta received the start in favor of Henrik Lundqvist — who will undoubtedly start Sunday night at home against the Winnipeg Jets, was solid all night. He stopped 35 of the 37 shots he was tasked with.

Defenseman Nick Holden also scored his first goal as a Ranger early in the game:

The win now moves the NHL’s highest scoring team to a record of 9-3, 18 points. It has them No. 1 in the Metropolitan Division. They’ll head home tonight in preparation of an Sunday night MSG date with the Jets.
